The course starts with the welcome, scheduling, an ensemble meeting and a dinner on Saturday, 3.8. 2019 from 17.00 o’clock. Starting date: Sunday, 4.8. at 9.30 am. The course ends late on Thursday afternoon, 8.8. at about 16.30 hrs. Departure options: 8 or 9 August.

In the beautiful mountain village we meet for an intensive master class for recorder and early music ensembles. Solo lessons are the main focus, but also ensemble playing, technique training, exam preparation, working on sonatas, concerti, early baroque canzonas, consort and ensemble works (registration for soloists and existing ensembles possible).

During the course week in Arosa, enthusiasts will meet to discuss the recorder and early music. Be it schoolgirls (from approx. 12 years), young people, students, music lovers, teachers, retired soloists, listeners or passionate laymen, a group of approx. 25 interested people is formed here. Lay people are very welcome, but it is still a master class. This means that each participant has partly public lessons with the professor, who develops the works with the players. Usually, the répétiteur on the harpsichord is also present in these main lessons. In addition there are group lessons with technical contents, ensemble playing possibilities, private lessons with the assistant, a chamber music day, workshops, a recorder consort taster course, rehearsals of the works with harpsichord, i.e. for everyone there are exciting and instructive topics and courses which can be booked after registration and acceptance into the course. For each participant, the course programme is put together individually and wishes are taken into account.

Target audience
Advanced pupils, students, experienced recorder players, music lovers. Recorder players and other instrumentalists who would like to train the baroque repertoire. In cooperation with Arosa Kultur, the professor decides on the admission.

Type of teaching
There are two categories: pleasure & professional. The public master class lessons of Maurice Steger are supplemented by the assistants and guest lecturers in the rotation principle and the course program is very individually coordinated with the needs of the participants.

Course venue
The Waldhotel National (****S) has many rooms and is ideal as a course venue for recorder players and early music students. Three rooms including the hall are used for lessons, further rooms are available for practice purposes.
